CSRNP2

Overview

Cysteine and serine rich nuclear protein 2 (CSRNP2) is a nuclear protein and a member of the CSRNP protein family, characterized by cysteine- and serine-rich domains, a basic DNA-binding domain, and a transcriptional activation domain. CSRNP2 binds the AGAGTG DNA sequence and likely serves as a transcription factor involved in gene regulation, with possible roles in apoptosis, though its physiological function remains incompletely characterized. CSRNP family members (CSRNP1, CSRNP2, CSRNP3) show redundant functions in mice. While mutations or altered expression of CSRNP2 have been tentatively linked to certain rare inherited metabolic diseases (like nephrolithiasis/osteoporosis), it is not recognized as a drug target or biomarker at this time.
