Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cytochrome b-245 beta chain (NOX2) is a membrane-bound protein essential for the NADPH oxidase enzyme complex. It generates superoxide radicals during phagocytosis, playing a critical role in immune defense. Mutations in the CYBB gene, encoding this protein, cause X-linked chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), characterized by impaired superoxide production and increased susceptibility to infections.
