Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 5B pseudogene 4 (COX5BP4)

Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 5B pseudogene 4 (COX5BP4) is a human pseudogene, named for its sequence similarity to the protein-coding gene for cytochrome c oxidase subunit 5B. Pseudogenes such as COX5BP4 are generally considered evolutionary relics, with no known protein product or function[1][3]. Unlike their protein-coding counterparts, pseudogenes are not transcribed into functional proteins, and many have no characterized biological activity.
