Overview

Cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7C pseudogene 2 (COX7CP2) refers to a pseudogene similar in sequence to the protein-coding gene *cytochrome c oxidase subunit 7C* (COX7C), but it does not produce a functional protein product. Pseudogenes arise from duplication or retrotransposition events but typically do not have an active biological role. As such, COX7CP2 is not a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or member of a functional molecular classification, and it does not interact with drugs or serve as a biomarker. There is no evidence for involvement of COX7CP2 in biological functions or disease. The entry may be misleading if mistaken for the functional COX7C protein, which is an enzyme component of mitochondrial electron transport[3][8][4].
