Cytochrome c pseudogene 32 (CYCSP32 or HCP32) is one of 49 processed pseudogenes in the human genome that are highly homologous to the functional cytochrome c gene (HCS, CYCS), but none of these pseudogenes, including HCP32, are expressed as functional proteins. These pseudogenes are characterized by the lack of introns and often contain sequence disablements such as truncations, frame shifts, and stop codons; CYCSP32 is classified among these non-functional, intron-less processed pseudogenes, likely resulting from retrotranspositional events and segmental duplications. There is no evidence that CYCSP32 is transcribed or involved in any cellular or disease process, nor is it a drug target or biomarker.
