Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily AC member 1, pseudogene (CYP2AC1P) is a human pseudogene of the cytochrome P450 superfamily[5][6]. Pseudogenes are non-functional segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but, due to mutations or deletions, do not produce functional proteins[5][3][6]. CYP2AC1P has no known enzyme activity and is not known to influence metabolism, drug response, or disease directly as a coding gene. It should not be treated as a therapeutic target. There is no evidence that it encodes a protein or interacts with drugs[5][6]. The broader **cytochrome P450 family (CYPs)** comprises heme-containing enzymes that participate in drug metabolism and the synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids, and many functional CYPs are important clinical drug targets or pharmacogenomic factors[1][7]. However, **CYP2AC1P itself is not among these functional enzymes**. The entry is sometimes parsed as a target due to its name, but as a *pseudogene*, it does not produce an active protein and thus does not serve as a drug target. Catalogues such as GeneCards, HGNC, and primary literature recognize the functional status of CYP2AC1P as a pseudogene—not a pharmacologically relevant gene[5][6]. No known aliases besides official gene/protein nomenclature apply to this pseudogene. As a pseudogene, it does not produce an active protein/nucleic acid and should not be considered a valid molecular target for therapeutic intervention.
