Overview

Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 23, pseudogene (CYP2C23P), also known as CYP2C62P, is a human gene classified as a pseudogene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences that resemble functional genes but lack the ability to encode functional proteins, often due to disabling mutations or regulatory differences. CYP2C23P is part of the cytochrome P450 superfamily, which contains many functional genes and pseudogenes involved in diverse biochemical pathways, notably xenobiotic and drug metabolism. However, since CYP2C23P is a pseudogene, it does not encode an active enzyme and has no direct biological or pharmacological role[7][6][11].
