Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 58 pseudogene (CYP2C58P) is a nonfunctional genetic element classified as a pseudogene, related by sequence similarity to the cytochrome P450 enzyme family[1][3]. Pseudogenes generally arise from ancestral genes but have accumulated mutations (such as frame shifts, premature stop codons, or deletions) preventing them from encoding functional proteins[6]. CYP2C58P is not known to express a functional enzyme or play a direct role in metabolism, disease, or therapeutic drug response.
