Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily G member 2, pseudogene (CYP2G2P) is an unprocessed pseudogene in the human genome that is classified as part of the cytochrome P450 superfamily by sequence similarity, but it does not encode a functional protein product[1][3][9]. Located on chromosome 19q13.2, CYP2G2P is annotated based on homology to active P450 enzymes, yet due to mutations or lack of transcription, it is not translated into a functional enzyme in humans[1]. Although CYP2G2P is not a functional enzyme or receptor, transcriptomic profiling studies suggest that pseudogenes including CYP2G2P can be differentially expressed in diseases such as nasopharyngeal carcinoma, where it may be downregulated compared to normal tissue, echoing possible regulatory or biomarker relevance in cancer, but not a confirmed disease driver or drug target[2]. As a pseudogene, CYP2G2P is not regarded as a direct therapeutic target; it lacks known small molecule or biologic interactors, and its function is typically inferred through association with its protein-coding relatives in the cytochrome P450 gene family[1][5].
