Molecular classification
Other (Pseudogene; not a protein, enzyme, receptor, etc.)

Overview

Cytochrome P450 family 3 subfamily A member 51, pseudogene (CYP3A51P) is a nonfunctional pseudogene in the cytochrome P450 gene cluster on chromosome 7q21.1. It shares high sequence similarity with the functional CYP3A5 gene, encoding an inactive, nonprotein product that does not have a known biological, pharmacological, or disease-related role. This pseudogene complicates genomic studies of CYP3A5 due to high sequence similarity but is not itself a target for drugs or therapy

Other names

02

Mechanism of action

None (pseudogene, no known protein product or pharmacological mechanism)

03

Biological functions

None (pseudogenes do not encode functional proteins and have no direct biological function)
04

Disease associations

None (no known disease associations for this pseudogene—active CYP3A5 does have multiple disease and pharmacology implications, but not its pseudogene variant)
05

Safety considerations

None (no therapeutic or diagnostic role; no associated safety data)
06

Interacting drugs

None (pseudogenes do not interact with drugs; active CYP3A5 metabolizes many drugs, but CYP3A51P does not)
07

Biomarkers

None (the pseudogene itself is not used as a biomarker; polymorphisms in CYP3A5 (active gene) are used as pharmacogenetic biomarkers, but not this pseudogene)
