Cytokine gene expression inhibition refers to the suppression or downregulation of the transcription and translation of cytokine genes, resulting in decreased production of cytokines—key signaling proteins involved in immune responses, inflammation, and cell communication. This process can be targeted for therapeutic purposes to control excessive or pathological inflammation seen in autoimmune diseases, infections, and other inflammatory conditions.
