Cytokine profile

A **cytokine profile** refers to the quantitative and qualitative measurement of multiple cytokines in a biological sample—such as blood plasma—to assess immune system status and inflammatory responses. This technique provides insight into which signaling proteins are elevated or suppressed under various physiological or pathological conditions. Cytokine profiling is widely used in research and clinical settings to monitor disease progression (such as infection, cancer, autoimmune disorders), evaluate patient responses to therapy—especially those involving immunomodulatory agents—and identify potential therapeutic targets based on dysregulated immune signaling patterns. However, it does not represent an individual molecular entity but rather an aggregate diagnostic readout.
