Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cytomegalovirus antigen pp65 (pp65 or UL83) is the major structural protein of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). It plays a key role in modulating host immune responses by inhibiting interferon production and participating in transactivation of viral genes. pp65 is an immunodominant antigen recognized by T cells, making it a valuable target for diagnostic assays, immune monitoring, and vaccine development, although it may not be sufficient as a single target for effective vaccine-induced immunity.
