The cytomegalovirus (CMV) pp65–IE1 fusion protein is a synthetic or recombinant antigen that combines two major immunodominant proteins from human cytomegalovirus (HCMV): phosphoprotein 65 (pp65, also known as UL83) and immediate early protein 1 (IE1). Both proteins are principal targets of the cellular immune response in HCMV infection, making their fusion a promising candidate for vaccine development and T cell-based immunotherapies. It is designed to induce broad antiviral T-cell response; modulates host immunity. Used as a vaccine candidate and in adoptive immunotherapy.
