Overview

Cytoplasmic dynein 1 intermediate chain 2 (DYNC1I2) is a non-catalytic accessory subunit of the cytoplasmic dynein 1 complex, which functions as a major microtubule motor responsible for intracellular retrograde transport of various cargos, including organelles and vesicles, along microtubules. DYNC1I2 is essential for dynein complex assembly, cargo adaptor binding, and regulation of motor function. It is ubiquitously expressed across numerous tissues and contributes to processes such as mitotic spindle assembly and chromosome segregation[3][4][2][1][6]. This protein does not serve as a classical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, ion channel, or enzyme), and there are currently no approved drugs known to act selectively on DYNC1I2. However, genetic alterations in DYNC1I2 may be relevant to basic research in cell division and neurobiology.
