The “Cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation via antigen presentation pathway” describes the molecular and cellular events that occur when cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CD8+ T cells) are activated upon recognition of foreign or abnormal peptides presented by antigen-presenting cells via major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) molecules. Regulatory mechanisms such as CTLA-4 expression provide a check to prevent over-activation and autoimmunity[4]. The pathway is crucial in eliminating virus-infected or cancerous cells[10]. This entry does not reflect a single molecule or receptor target but instead a complex immunological signaling process. Therefore, it is not considered a canonical therapeutic “target” (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter), but understanding and modulation of this pathway are central to immuno-oncology and related drug development.
