Cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), also known as CD152, is a critical immune checkpoint receptor expressed primarily on activated T cells and regulatory T cells (Tregs). It plays a central role in downregulating immune responses and maintaining self-tolerance by acting as a negative regulator of T cell-mediated immunity.
