CYYR1 antisense RNA 1 (CYYR1-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located in the human genome on chromosome 21, discovered as part of the complex multi-transcript CYYR1 locus. This gene produces an antisense RNA overlapping the protein-coding CYYR1 gene and is thought to be non-coding, possibly playing a regulatory role for the CYYR1 gene. The locus exhibits multiple alternatively spliced isoforms, and expression of CYYR1-AS1 varies between normal tissues and disease contexts, including trisomy 21 and tumor cell lines. However, the precise function of CYYR1-AS1, its interactions, and its disease associations remain largely uncharacterized, requiring further investigation.
