DAAM2 antisense RNA 1 (DAAM2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is transcribed antisense to the DAAM2 (dishevelled-associated activator of morphogenesis 2) gene[3][5][7]. As an antisense RNA, its primary function is believed to be the regulation of DAAM2 mRNA expression, potentially through mechanisms such as RNA interference, modulation of transcription, or regulation of RNA stability[6]. DAAM2-AS1 is not a protein and is not considered a conventional drug target such as a receptor or enzyme. There are currently no known drugs or biologically active small molecules targeting DAAM2-AS1 directly, and no validated biomarkers or safety concerns described in the literature. The biological and disease roles of DAAM2-AS1 are largely inferred by analogy to other antisense lncRNAs and through its regulation of DAAM2, which is implicated in pathways relevant to morphogenesis, Wnt signaling, and certain cancers via its protein-coding counterpart[1][4]. No explicit therapeutic or diagnostic applications are established at present.
