Overview

DAZ associated protein 2 pseudogene 1 (DAZAP2P1) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 2 that is homologous to the functional DAZAP2 gene but contains mutations such as the absence of introns and nonsense mutations, inactivating its ability to produce a functional protein[1][3][7]. DAZAP2P1 is not transcribed into a functional protein and does not participate in canonical biological pathways, disease processes, or drug interactions. Its presence is primarily of genomic interest and has no known medical or therapeutic relevance. There is no indication DAZAP2P1 has any role as a molecular target, and references confirm it is a non-functional, processed pseudogene that should not be confused with DAZAP2, the protein-coding gene associated with cellular and signaling functions[3][1].
