DBX2 antisense RNA 1 (DBX2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene transcribed antisense to the DBX2 coding gene. As an lncRNA, it is not translated into a functional protein and is part of a broad class of non-coding RNAs involved in the regulation of gene expression through mechanisms such as chromatin modification, recruitment of transcription factors, modulation of splicing, and control of mRNA stability[1][3][5]. DBX2-AS1 does not currently have a characterized function or disease association in the literature or gene databases, nor is it identified as an established therapeutic target[5]. Antisense lncRNAs as a class are increasingly studied for their roles in gene regulation and pathology (notably cancer), but DBX2-AS1 itself is not listed among those with known impact in such disease roles in current major transcriptomic cancer studies[2][4].
