DCAF8 divergent transcript (DCAF8-DT) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 1, near the protein-coding DCAF8 gene. Divergent transcripts are defined by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee as lncRNAs found within 300–500 nucleotides of protein-coding genes, indicating possible co-regulation or shared regulatory elements. DCAF8-DT does not code for a protein nor is it a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme. There are currently no established biological roles, disease associations, or drug interactions related to DCAF8-DT in the published literature. It is distinct from the DCAF8 gene, which encodes a WD repeat-containing protein involved in ubiquitin ligase activity.
