Target intelligence / Profile preview
DCTN1 antisense RNA 1 (DCTN1-AS1) is a lncRNA transcribed in the antisense orientation to the DCTN1 gene. DCTN1-AS1 is a non-protein coding RNA and may be involved in the regulation of DCTN1 expression through epigenetic and transcriptional mechanisms[2][4][6]. DCTN1 has critical cellular functions in microtubule stability and axonal transport, and disruption is implicated in neurodegeneration (particularly in ALS and Alzheimer's disease)[2][4][1]. DCTN1-AS1, by antisense interactions, may modulate DCTN1 expression and thus indirectly influence pathways involved in tau pathology and neuronal integrity[2]. Changes in DCTN1-AS1 levels are observed in some neurodegenerative conditions, but its precise molecular function remains uncertain[2][4]. No drugs are currently known to target DCTN1-AS1 directly, and its use as a biomarker or therapeutic target is investigational.
None known (no drugs identified that directly target DCTN1-AS1; potential use of antisense oligonucleotides for functional manipulation is speculative)
