The DCTN6 divergent transcript (DCTN6-DT) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located in close proximity to the protein-coding DCTN6 (Dynactin subunit 6) gene, arranged in a divergent (head-to-head) orientation[5][7]. By definition, divergent transcripts are a class of lncRNAs transcribed from genomic regions within several hundred nucleotides of a protein-coding gene, but on the opposite strand[7]. The detailed biological functions of DCTN6-DT are currently unknown, which is typical for many divergent lncRNAs. However, such transcripts may be involved in regulating local gene expression, chromatin structure, or transcriptional activity of their neighboring genes[2][5]. There is no evidence that DCTN6-DT encodes a protein, functions as a therapeutic target, interacts with drugs, or acts as a disease biomarker at this time[5].
