Overview

DDB1- and CUL4-associated factor 12-like protein 1 (DCAF12L1) is a member of the WD repeat protein family, characterized by the presence of multiple WD repeat motifs, which typically mediate the formation of heterotrimeric or multiprotein complexes[3][8]. DCAF12L1 is believed to function as an adaptor protein within the CUL4-DDB1 E3 ubiquitin ligase complex, facilitating the ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation of target proteins[1][2]. Members of the WD repeat family play roles in cell cycle progression, signal transduction, gene regulation, and apoptosis, and DCAF12L1 likely contributes to these processes. Mutations in DCAF12L1 have been associated with male infertility manifesting as azoospermia or oligozoospermia due to single gene mutation[3]. There is currently no evidence that DCAF12L1 is a therapeutic target, and no drugs are known to interact with it.
