Overview

DDB1- and CUL4-associated factor 4-like protein 1 (DCAF4L1) is a member of the DCAF (DDB1 and CUL4-associated factor) protein family, which typically serve as substrate receptors for the Cullin 4 (CUL4)-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complexes (CRL4)[4][5][7]. DCAF4L1 contains WD repeat motifs, which are involved in mediating protein-protein interactions, and likely enables the recognition of specific substrate proteins for ubiquitination and subsequent degradation via the proteasome pathway[4][5]. While functional studies for DCAF4L1 itself are limited, other DCAF family members play roles in cell cycle regulation, DNA repair, and chromatin remodeling as part of CRL4 complexes[1][2]. There is currently no evidence that DCAF4L1 is a direct drug target, or that it plays a role in human disease pathogenesis or therapy.
