Overview

DDX59 antisense RNA 1 (DDX59-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 1q32.1. It is not a protein-coding gene or a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, but instead modulates biological processes at the RNA level. DDX59-AS1 is significantly overexpressed in various cancers, including oral squamous cell carcinoma, breast invasive carcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, lung cancer, and others. High expression is correlated with advanced tumor stage, immune infiltration profiles, and poorer survival outcomes in OSCC, making it a promising prognostic biomarker for this malignancy. Functional profiling suggests DDX59-AS1 could be involved in keratinocyte differentiation, epidermal cell differentiation, and various cancer-associated signaling pathways. However, no direct drug interactions or safety concerns are reported, as it is not an approved drug target, and its therapeutic potential remains investigational.
