Death-associated protein kinase (DAPK) refers to a family of calcium/calmodulin-regulated serine/threonine kinases, with DAPK1 being the founding and most studied member. DAPK proteins are primarily involved in regulating cell death processes, including apoptosis and autophagy. The family includes DAPK1, DAPK2, DAPK3 (also known as ZIP kinase), and related kinases such as DRAK1 and DRAK2. DAPK proteins function as tumor suppressors and are implicated in neuronal disorders.
