Death inducer-obliterator 1 (DIDO1) is a zinc finger-containing transcription factor encoded by the DIDO1 gene in humans. It is upregulated by apoptotic signals, initially localized in the cytoplasm and translocates to the nucleus upon activation, where it can induce apoptosis and regulate gene expression. DIDO1 functions in several biological processes, including apoptosis, maintenance of chromatin stability, DNA regulation, and the regulation of stem cell pluripotency and differentiation. It has tumor suppressor properties and is involved in normal hematopoiesis, but is also implicated in certain cancers (such as colorectal cancer and melanoma) and hematological malignancies. Overexpression or altered splicing of DIDO1 may contribute to disease development or progression. There are multiple isoforms generated by alternative splicing, and related homologs in other organisms suggest roles beyond apoptosis, particularly linked to chromatin and DNA regulation[1][2][3][4][5].
