The DAZ gene family is located on the Y chromosome and is a candidate for the azoospermia factor (AZF) region, with loss or microdeletion of DAZ3 contributing to defects in sperm production and male infertility[2][5]. The encoded protein possesses a conserved RNA recognition motif (RRM) and DAZ repeats, facilitating interactions with target mRNAs involved in meiosis and germ cell maintenance[1][3][5]. DAZ3 does not function as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or canonical drug target and there are no approved drugs directed at this protein; its primary significance is diagnostic or genetic in cases of male infertility[2][3][4][5].
