Target intelligence / Profile preview
Deleted in malignant brain tumors 1 like 1 (DMBT1L1) is an annotated human pseudogene, reported under several aliases including DMBT1P1 and ZP domain-containing protein LOC729800-like[1]. Unlike its paralog DMBT1, which encodes a multifunctional glycoprotein and putative tumor suppressor involved in pattern recognition and immune defense[5][7], DMBT1L1 lacks evidence for a functional protein product and is not regarded as a therapeutic target. DMBT1L1 appears as a genomic sequence resembling DMBT1 but with gene structure or sequence features classifying it as a pseudogene. No known drugs, biomarkers, or disease associations are reported for DMBT1L1 in genomic or pharmacological databases[1]. Relevant protein families such as “ZP domain-containing proteins” are referenced in the context of DMBT1’s structure (ZP domain, involved in extracellular matrix assembly and polymerization)[7][2], but there is no direct evidence that DMBT1L1 encodes a biologically active ZP domain protein. If further clarification is needed on DMBT1 (without “like 1”), note that DMBT1 is a protein-coding gene with important disease associations and biological functions, while DMBT1L1/DMBT1P1 is not[5][7][1].
