Delta-like protein 1 (DLL1) is a transmembrane ligand protein that plays a critical role in the Notch signaling pathway, which is essential for cell fate determination during embryonic development and tissue homeostasis in adults. It acts as a ligand for NOTCH receptors, triggering proteolytic cleavage of the receptor and subsequent regulation of gene transcription.
