Dendritic cells are specialized antigen-presenting cells critical for bridging innate and adaptive immunity. Upon encountering pathogens or danger signals, dendritic cells uptake, process, and present antigens on their surface (via MHC class I or II molecules) to T-cells, along with essential costimulatory signals (such as CD80, CD86, and CD40). This activation process is regulated by signaling pathways, including NF-κB and MAPK, and the resulting cytokine production directs the ensuing immune response, including T-cell priming, polarization, and effector functions. Dendritic cell activation is important for immunity to infections and tumors but must be tightly controlled to prevent autoimmunity or chronic inflammation[3][4][5][6][10].
