Dendritic cell C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) are a family of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) predominantly expressed on dendritic cells (DCs), as well as other myeloid lineage cells. These receptors play a central role in the immune system by recognizing carbohydrate structures on pathogens and self-tissues, thereby linking innate and adaptive immunity. They mediate antigen uptake and presentation, and modulate immune responses. Depending on the ligand/receptor context, CLRs can promote pro-inflammatory responses against infections/cancer or induce immunosuppressive/tolerogenic outcomes.
