Overview

Dendritic cell immunoreceptor 2 (DCIR2) is a type of C-type lectin receptor primarily expressed on conventional type 2 dendritic cells (cDC2). It plays a key role in antigen recognition and presentation, particularly in modulating the activation and polarization of CD4+ T cells, especially towards Th2 responses. DCIR2 has been explored as a target for immune interventions and antigen delivery in vaccine development within preclinical models, due to its restricted expression pattern and functional specialization among dendritic cell subsets. In murine models, DCIR2 deficiency does not significantly alter the progression of metabolic diseases such as obesity, suggesting redundancy or compensatory mechanisms within the immune system. The receptor is recognized by the monoclonal antibody 33D1, which facilitates research and targeted interventions in immunology[1][2][4].
