Target intelligence / Profile preview
The dendritic cell (DC) maturation pathway is the complex biological process by which immature dendritic cells transform into mature, immunologically competent antigen-presenting cells. This maturation is essential for initiating and regulating adaptive immune responses, particularly T cell activation. Immature DCs capture and process antigens, and upon encountering stimuli like pathogens or inflammatory cytokines, they undergo maturation. Mature DCs migrate to lymphoid organs and present processed antigens via MHC molecules to naïve T cells, priming them for an immune response. The type of immune response induced depends on the DC subset, stage of maturation, and microenvironmental signals.
