Overview
Dengue virus nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) is a multifunctional glycoprotein produced by the dengue virus. It is found both inside infected cells and secreted into the extracellular environment. NS1 plays critical roles in viral replication, immune evasion, pathogenesis, and virion assembly. It exists in monomeric, dimeric, and hexameric forms, each with distinct functions. NS1 is a diagnostic marker for acute dengue infection and a potential target for vaccine and therapeutic development.
