Dengue virus serotype 1 envelope protein (DENV-1 E protein)

Target
DENV-1 E protein
Molecular classification
Viral envelope glycoprotein, Flavivirus structural protein
01

Overview

The Dengue virus serotype 1 envelope protein (E protein) is a major structural glycoprotein forming homodimers on the virion surface, organized into three β-barrel domains (DI, DII with fusion loop, DIII immunoglobulin-like for receptor binding). It mediates host cell receptor binding, low-pH triggered conformational change for membrane fusion during entry, and serves as the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. Crystal structures reveal pre- and post-fusion forms, with DIII highly immunogenic.
