Dengue virus serotype 4 (DENV-4) is one of four antigenically distinct serotypes of the dengue virus, a member of the Flaviviridae family. DENV-4 is an enveloped, single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Infection with DENV-4 can cause classical dengue fever and, in some cases, severe dengue.
