Target intelligence / Profile preview
Dengue virus type 1 (DENV-1) is one of four serotypes of the dengue virus, a Flavivirus transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. It is responsible for causing dengue fever, ranging from mild illness to severe hemorrhagic fever and shock. The virus contains a single-stranded RNA genome encoding structural (C, prM/M, E) and nonstructural (NS1, NS2A, NS2B, NS3, NS4A, NS4B, NS5) proteins. Infection induces serotype-specific immunity but can lead to antibody-dependent enhancement in subsequent infections with different serotypes, increasing the risk of severe disease. DENV-1 comprises several genotypes that circulate globally. Current treatments are mainly supportive, while antiviral and vaccine research is ongoing.
N/A - Current treatments primarily focus on symptom management and supportive care. Antiviral research is ongoing but not yet widely available.
