DENND5B antisense RNA 1 (DENND5B-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 12. It does not encode a protein and is categorized as an antisense RNA overlapping the DENND5B gene. While its precise biological function remains incompletely characterized, it has been identified as an RNA species correlated with tumor staging and is considered a potentially risky prognostic marker in cancer molecular studies[2][9][8]. Like other lncRNAs, DENND5B-AS1 is presumed to act through regulation of gene expression, possibly influencing chromatin structure, transcription, or RNA stability[3].
