Dental enamel hydroxyapatite is the primary mineral component of tooth enamel, making up approximately 96% of its composition by weight. It is a crystalline calcium phosphate compound with the chemical formula Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)₂. This mineral forms highly organized crystals that aggregate into dense structures known as enamel rods or prisms, which extend from the dentin-enamel junction to the outer surface of each tooth. It provides hardness and protection to the teeth, and is involved in the dynamic process of demineralization and remineralization.
Fluoride promotes remineralization; Nano-hydroxyapatite restores lost minerals to demineralized areas.
