Target intelligence / Profile preview
DEP domain-containing protein 4 is a human protein characterized by the presence of a DEP domain, which facilitates its involvement in intracellular signal transduction. DEPDC4 participates in regulatory signaling cascades including GPCR-mediated pathways, Wnt signaling, and inflammation signaling through NF-κB and MAPK routes. Molecular evidence suggests it affects physiological processes such as ocular development, vascular inflammation, and metabolic regulation during pregnancy. Genetic variants and epigenetic regulation of DEPDC4 have been implicated in several disease states, notably high-grade myopia, cancer, and disorders related to vascular and metabolic functions. To date, it is considered a multifunctional signaling regulator, with no approved drugs targeting it directly and no established role as a therapeutic target.
