Dephospho-CoA kinase domain-containing protein (DCAKD) is an enzyme encoded by the DCAKD gene, located on chromosome 17 in humans. It belongs to the nucleoside/nucleotide kinase superfamily and displays kinase activity, specifically phosphorylating dephospho-CoA, which is a crucial step in the biosynthetic pathway for coenzyme A—a fundamental cofactor involved in cellular metabolism, including energy production and fatty acid synthesis. The protein is predicted to localize to cellular membranes, but its detailed subcellular distribution and physiological roles remain incompletely characterized. Although there is a reported genetic association with familial meningioma, DCAKD is not currently established as a therapeutic target and no drugs or biomarker assays are available for clinical use.
