Target intelligence / Profile preview
DEPTOR antisense RNA 1 (DEPTOR-AS1), also known as KB-1471A8.2, is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the DEPTOR gene locus. There is currently no published evidence that DEPTOR-AS1 itself functions as a protein, receptor, or established drug target. The biological roles, mechanisms, and clinical significance of DEPTOR-AS1 remain largely uncharacterized. It is essential not to confuse DEPTOR-AS1 with the DEPTOR protein, which is a known inhibitor of mTOR signaling pathways and has prominent roles in cancer and cell growth regulation. No direct biological function currently characterized in citable literature for DEPTOR-AS1; general lncRNA functions include transcriptional regulation and modulation of gene expression, but this is not established for DEPTOR-AS1 specifically. There is no clear evidence linking DEPTOR-AS1 specifically to a disease entity; available data is for the DEPTOR gene/protein or other unrelated antisense RNAs. If your query was intended for the protein DEPTOR (DEP domain-containing mTOR-interacting protein), it is a distinct target classified as a negative regulator of mTOR complexes, implicated in cancer, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and is considered a therapeutic target and biomarker in some malignancies. DEPTOR-AS1, however, refers to an antisense RNA with no established therapeutic or biomarker role.
