Target intelligence / Profile preview
Dermatan sulfate is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan (GAG) found predominantly in the skin, blood vessels, heart valves, tendons, lungs, and intestinal mucosa. It is composed of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) and L-iduronic acid (IdoA). It plays roles in extracellular matrix construction, blood coagulation regulation, and wound repair. It is not considered a therapeutic target in the conventional sense but is under investigation for its antithrombotic, antiviral, and anticancer properties.
