Target intelligence / Profile preview
Desmoglein 3 (DSG3) is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as a core component of desmosome junctions in vertebrate epithelial cells. It mediates calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion and functions as a surface regulator for various intracellular signaling pathways. DSG3 plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, differentiation, migration, apoptosis, tissue integrity, and homeostasis. It is a major autoantigen in pemphigus vulgaris and serves as a prognostic marker for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (ESCC).
Modulation of cell-cell adhesion and intracellular signaling pathways.
