Developmental pluripotency associated 5 pseudogene 4 (DPPA5P4) is a human pseudogene related by sequence to the DPPA5 gene, which is part of a family of genes involved in pluripotency and early embryonic development. As a pseudogene, DPPA5P4 does not encode a functional protein and is not known to have biological activity or a role as a drug target. Scientific interest and potential therapeutically relevant functions are limited to other DPPA family proteins, especially DPPA2 and DPPA4, which have roles in chromatin regulation in pluripotent stem cells and are sometimes reactivated in cancer[2]. There is currently no evidence that DPPA5P4 itself has any such biological or disease relevance.
