Overview

DIAPH3 antisense RNA 2 (DIAPH3-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed antisense to the DIAPH3 (diaphanous-related formin 3) gene[1][2]. While the sense gene DIAPH3 encodes a protein involved in actin dynamics, cell movement, and has been implicated in cancer and auditory neuropathy, the specific functions and mechanisms of DIAPH3-AS2 remain under study[2]. The transcript is one of several DIAPH3 antisense RNAs with possible regulatory roles in gene expression, potentially through interfering with or modulating DIAPH3 expression[2]. There is emerging but not definitive evidence of a role in cancer, especially triple-negative breast cancer, but its exact biological and pathological significance requires further investigation[2]. At present, DIAPH3-AS2 is not a recognized pharmacological target, nor is it linked to any approved or investigational drugs.
