Dihydrofolate reductase pseudogene 2 (DHFRP2) is a processed, non-coding pseudogene found in the human genome. It is related to the functional dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) gene, which is crucial for folate metabolism but differs in that it does not encode a protein. Current literature and gene databases confirm DHFRP2 has no known biological function, no enzymatic activity, and no involvement in disease or therapeutic processes. It is distinct from the functional DHFR gene and from other dihydrofolate reductase-like processed pseudogenes, such as DHFRP4, which recent evidence suggests may be expressed[2][4][5]. DHFRP2 remains characterized as a classical non-functional pseudogene.
